Cracked Alloys

Cracked alloy repairs

Hit a pothole and cracked a rim? Plenty of alloys can be safely welded rather than scrapped — where it's safe to do so, and we'll always tell you straight.

Cracked Alloys

A cracked rim doesn't always mean a new wheel

The roads round here don't do your wheels any favours, and one decent pothole can crack an alloy in an instant. The good news is a fair few can be saved.

Safety comes first, mind. We won't touch cracks near the mounting face or anything structural, and if a wheel isn't safe to repair we'll say so rather than bodge it. Where it can be done, it's a lot cheaper than a replacement — especially on the bigger diameter wheels.

  • TIG welding for cracks where it's safe to repair
  • Wheel balanced and pressure-tested afterwards
  • A straight safety assessment — no dodgy repairs
  • Usually far cheaper than a brand new alloy
